American Empire Timeline

I am so angry with my clumsiness. I spent 3 hours writing backstories for all these flags.... and I pressed the green SUBMIT button instead of the Submit Now on the right side of the screen. I lost probably a two thousand word essay detailing a short history of my "Terraformed Solar System". I searched my history but could not fine what I had written.

HOLY FUCKBALLS BATMAN. It turns out I had a temporary save in my STASH folder that I never use.
So here is the original that I 'lost'. Keep in mind this was in the middle of a very partisan election and I am a Conservative. So I'm not making any apologies.

I've wanted to do something like this for many years: A fanciful progression from the current USA flag into a globe spanning (and Moon) Terran Empire that fits into my little terraformed universe where all the little worlds of our Solar System are colonized and have their own flags and governments. I liked the Romulan Eagle from Star Trek Nemesis so much I stole it and used it as a Roman eagle for an empire than never fell. 

This is only a simple conjecture of future events. If anyone has actual complaints, or wants to flame about nationalism or express your severe butthurt over what I'm about to write next, I'm totally going to block you without any warning. If reading this triggers you like a precious snowflake, don't touch the keyboard and tell everyone about it.

No set dates, everything is rough and fuzzy. I only made the flags, the events are merely filler. I wrote entirely too much. Sorry, my own politics is starting to affect my artistic work.

Present day USA with 50 stars

Union with Canada and annexation of 10 Provinces. Constitution remains the same and all are equal to US States as Semi-Autonomous in a Federal System.

Middle to Late 21st Century [Brave New World]
The American Republic. American Territorial expansion renews and more Western Hemisphere possessions ask for statehood. All US territories, some Caribbean islands join and Greenland. No Latin American States. "The Republic" for short, is a global energy powerhouse because of technologies pioneered in the early 21st Century like fracking and clean coal have liberated the rest of the world from the dying clutches of the corrupt OPEC cartel. The long sought promise of Fusion has been achieved and it is now the early days of mass migration to the rest of the Solar System. 
All this centralized power has made the government of "The Republic" corrupt and dangerous. This is now a Unitary State that only pays lip service to long forgotten personal freedoms "written on some parchment by some old dead white men" and it resembles very much the old Roman Republic at the time of Caesar. There is no more direct representation, only a practially hereditary Senate made up of powerful dynastic families and massive mega corporations rule daily life. With special thanks to revisionist writers, the American Constitution is a shell of its former self and is now mostly a series of demands and fake promisses to make "We The People" docile and content. Elections now are nothing more than a promise keeping the population artificially and chemically content and complacent if they only play along with the quaint tradition. No one is elected, or even ousted, the same Oligarchs merely change seats. Soma, is real in this time. America is truly rich and unquestionably powerful, but it is also a stratified two tiered society of the "Have All" and the "have nothing but too doped up to care".
With one exception. The Veterans. Now is the time of the Second American Revolution. If you are familiar with some of the back story of Starship Troopers... something similar to that.
Those that could afford it, those with adventurous spirits, and those that could see what their world has become have left for the Moon, Mars and the Asteroid colonies. Most, except for the Veterans. Veterans that remembered what the world used to be like and were tired of the constant pointless wars they've been subjected to.
So the Veterans and their families revolted. En Mass. The Oligarchs thought they had the power but they forgot who actually has the guns. The resulting Civil War was massive, savage and bloody. City streets became front lines. Bloody and devastating in ways not seen since the Thirty Years War but with modern weapons.
But what do to with the losing side? The Oligarchs, the corrupt, and their slave like followers. You can't heard them off to camps, you can't kill them. Exile? Sending the losing side off planet is the only humanitarian solution. They had their chance and ruined a great nation. Exile would be a great opportunity for them to start anew without the annoying opposition that handed their asses to them. 
This is where my current Venus Map project comes into play. Where Mars is most colonized by the "Right".. Venus will be a haven for all the crazy lefty ideologies.

1st Warflag: New Post Civil War government. Not my favorite flag design.
The allies of the losing side of the 2nd American Revolution/Civil War are now happy. The Republic is now pushing back. (yes I know it's vague) On the road to empire eerily similar to Julius Caesar's rise.

2nd Warflag: This is the Harley Davidson Eagle. It's more belligerent because even more Leftist nations around the globe are actively resisting the reach of this new "Republic". The forces of the the New Republic do not invade for conquest or domination. They fight for simple revenge. They do not fight to liberate or to build nations, but only to weed out and destroy corruption wherever it hides. The New American Republic finds and kills its enemies and leaves the rest in hands of the oppressed with the implicit threat to the survivors: "Fix your shit or we'll be back" The Senate and People of America (SPQA) is even more prominent on the flag to show the Bird of Prey is large but is still under the will of its people.

3rd Warflag: Think 19th century British Empire in scope but the Military has become The State as in 18th and 19th century Prussia. (An old joke my history prof would say "Most nations had an army, Prussia was an army with a State" Again, The New Republic grows in power and influence much like the nation is replaced but along a different, more militant and principled line. Many corrupt and failing nations have been absorbed and the nation is a Global Hegemon in all but name.

4th Warflag: Global Hegemony has been achieved and the losers of the conquest are well on their way to Exile off world. The large angry eagle has been replaced by a cleaner, more officious symbol of government. It is a badge, not a victory totem. Their' work to be done and a generation's worth of cleaning ahead for this country.

Pax Americana: The American (Romulan) Eagle grasps both Hemispheres in it's talons both as control and protection. The eagle is also in full flight, carrying the world. This is now a legitimate American Empire. The SPQA still on the flag reminds everyone who brought this about and who is in charge.

Ad Astra: After the cleanup and consolidation of the previous generation, a new shared global identity is forged. A watchful, but unobtrusive government wants its people to live and thrive and breath free. No longer SPQA, but SPQT. This is also a time for a renewed migration to the stars. Expansion is Life. The Eagle now carries its people to the stars. The seal is also gilded to show wealth and importance.
